Childhood is the most wonderful and exciting part of a human beings journey in this world. What happens during this period is vital because it effects adulthood. If the childhood is filled with discipline, good health, education, love, affection and care then definitely, the adulthood will manifest positive mental health and mature behaviour.
God cares for Children and He wants children to be properly nurtured and brought up. Yet often we see selfishness, hostility, indifference around us which affects our lives. Those of us who are adults will definitely want to give the children around us the best of life. Now that does not mean pampering them but as elders and parents we need to be conscious that we are accountable for the tender lives that God has entrusted us with. How we bring them up is our responsibilities.
As for the Children – there is good news. Every child should be aware of certain things called the Children Rights. Take a look and know what they are and be assured for sure that God Loves You and you are precious.
Children’s rights are the human rights of children with particular attention to the rights of special protection and care afforded to the young. Definitions of children’s rights range from allowing children to do whatever they wish to the enforcement of children being physically, mentally and emotionally free from abuse. Other definitions include the rights to care and nurturing.
Types of rights
Children’s rights are defined in numerous ways, including a wide spectrum of civil, cultural, economic, social and political rights. A Canadian organization categorizes children’s rights into three categories, including:
Provision: Children have the right to an adequate standard of living, health care, education and services, and to play. These include a balanced diet, a warm bed to sleep in, and access to schooling.
Protection: Children have the right to protection from abuse, neglect, exploitation and discrimination. This includes the right to safe places for children to play; constructive child rearing behavior, and acknowledgment of the evolving capacities of children.
Participation: Children have the right to participate in communities and have programs and services for themselves. This includes children’s involvement in libraries and community programs, youth voice activities, and involving children as decision-makers.
Now isn’t that great? There are so many provisions for us, yet there are children out in the streets, slums, railway stations etc. who do not have any facilities for their lives. Let us not just be comfortable with our lives but make ways for other children to live life with dignity. Remember- you are precious and you can help others feel the same.
