Life is filled with ups and downs and every moment, people are affected by disappointment and triumphs. Mishaps happen every now and then. As a result, we get into traumatic experiences.
Recently the people in Kolkata have gone through a trauma as they saw the huge buildings burning for 4 consecutive days. We read in the news paper that a business man on seeing his shop on fire collapsed and they could not recover from this shock. He had a heart attack and passed away. More than physical injury, the mental state of a person affects his/her personality.
Recently I had an opportunity to attend a workshop on Tauma Counselling at Thailand and it was a very good learning experience for me which I want to share at writing campus.
The word “trauma” came from Greek τραυμα = “a wound”
Physical trauma, an often serious and body altering physical injury, such as the removal of a limb
Psychological trauma, an emotional or psychological injury, usually resulting from an extremely stressful or life-threatening situation.
Trauma leaves behind wounds that if not treated leads to serious problems.
Characteristics of a physical wound:
• It is visible
• It is painful & must be treated with care.
• If ignored, might get worse
• It must be cleaned to remove dirt
• If wounds heal on the surface but infection is still inside it can cause severe sickness
• Only God can bring healing, but He uses people and medicine
• If not treated, it attracts flies
• It takes time to heal.
• A healed wound leaves a scar.
Characteristics of an emotional wound:
• It is invisible but shows in the persons behavior
• It is painful and must be treated with care
• If ignored, it is likely to get worse
• The pain has to come out and the sin must be confessed
• When people pretend that their heart wounds are healed it will cause more problem
• Only God can bring healing but He often uses people and an understanding of how our emotions heal
• If not treated it attracts sin
• It takes time to heal
• A healed heart wound also leaves a scar.Life is very valuable, but often we loose its true meaning and fail to live life to the utmost due to amny mishaps. If you come across such people around you broken with heart wounds, help them unburden themselves and walk again.

We run after happiness. we think money can buy all hapiness, but can money buy contentment.
• Never allow yourself to complain about anything – not even the weather
• Never picture yourself in any other circumstances or someplace else.
• Never compare your lot with others
• Never allow yourself to wish this or that had been ortherwise.
• Never dwell on tomorrow — remember that (tomorrow ) is God’s, not ours.
Most of us base our contentment on our circumstances, on our feelings, or other people. However, true contentment is separate from our circumstances. Contentment is a state of heart, not a state of affairs.
In King Henry VI Shakespeare poetically described internal contentment. A king is wandering in the country and meets two pwople. He informs them that he is king. One of them asks, “ But if thou be a king, where is thy crown?” the king replied,
“My crown is in my heart, not on my head;
Not deck’d with diamonds and Indian stones,
Nor to be seen; my crown is called content
A crown it is that seldom kings enjoy.”
The above portion is an extract from a book “Calm my anxious heart”

While crossing the road we first take a look if the road is safe to walk across. We come across many road accidents caused due to careless driving and violence of traffic rules, especially when we do not heed the traffic signal. We all must have come across the traffic signal. What are the colors seen in the traffic lights?
Oh yes, it is nit purple, blue or baby pink. They might be your favorite colors but in the traffic signal post we only have Red, Yellow and Green.
We all know what the colors signify, but lets take a deep look in to the meaning of the colors and we will find deep meaning in it.
RED signifies Danger. It means the road is unsafe for crossing. Danger and loss is inevitable so the RED Signal asks us to stop!!!
YELLOW signifies Preparedness. It means that in a minute, the road will be safe and ready for crossing, therefore alerting us to be ready either to walk or start the vehicle.
GREEN signifies Action. It means that the right time for crossing the road has arrived, so there is no fear ahead.
In the same way, God Almighty has made available for us certain signals to have a safe travel in life’s journey.
There are times, when we need to stop right on the track if we come across people, things or habits that can lead us astray. If we are young and without much experience in life then it is all the more important to stop and evaluate your path before taking any step. It is better to be slow and steady rather than rush into things and shatter your life with irreparable mistakes. We should be wise while choosing friends, using internet facilities or even getting into various addictions. They are a “NO” from God and we do not heed these signals and keep to the rules then disaster in inevitable in life.
There are also certain things which we may want for ourselves but the time may not be right. So we need to wait for the right opportunities, right person suitable for our life. Biased decisions made in haste are bound to backfire and leave us broken, paralyzed and often traumatized in life. God does not say “Yes” to certain things in life but He asks us to “Wait” for certain enjoyments in life, but when we do not care for those rules of life we automatically welcome trouble into our lives. One very dangerous example could be HIV-AIDS. Any kind of illicit and extramarital physical affairs automatically leads to unending agony while facing an early death.
On the other hand there are certain God given privileges in life that we can enjoy and make use without reservation. Things are healthy, noble, meaningful, and graceful and worthy are always a Green signal from God to us to go ahead and take them. They are “Yes” from God and we need to be thankful to God.
Life can be very beautiful and enjoyable when we heed the signals and wisely take our steps. To have a meaningful life is our right but it is our choices that ascertains it.
